Anthropic API

Anthropic API provides direct model requests for supported RepoPrompt features such as Oracle and built-in Chat. It is separate from the Claude Code CLI coding-agent integration.

Connect

Use the Anthropic entry in API Providers settings. Supply an API credential with access to the intended models and validate it. The custom-model field accepts an exact compatible Anthropic identifier; it does not turn an arbitrary label into a supported model.

Models and availability

Use the provider's supported IDs and the choices available through this connection. Model capabilities, context limits, and support status vary. Review Anthropic's model lifecycle documentation before retaining a saved custom identifier across model retirements.

Models explains shared selection concepts. For RepoPrompt's per-model overrides, see Model Config; those controls cannot add capabilities absent from the endpoint.

Account and billing

Requests use the Anthropic API account associated with the saved key. A Claude subscription or an authenticated Claude Code runtime does not automatically pay for direct API requests or configure this credential. Check API access and billing on the account that owns the key.
