Azure OpenAI

Azure OpenAI is a direct model connection to your Azure resource. It requires resource-specific configuration and is distinct from the standard OpenAI API connection and Codex CLI account login.

Configure the resource

In API Providers → Azure OpenAI, provide the resource Base URL, supported API Version, and API Key, then validate. Use a version appropriate to that resource and requested functionality; a version shown in a settings screenshot is illustrative.

When discovery offers deployments, select the intended deployment or use the supported custom-deployment control. A deployment name belongs to the Azure resource and need not equal a public model ID used by another API.

Availability and lifecycle

Models must be available for your Azure resource, region, and deployment type. Check Microsoft's model lifecycle and availability guidance when a deployment changes or stops serving requests.

Models explains deployment identities and the relationship between model capabilities and RepoPrompt controls. Selecting a public model name does not provision an Azure deployment.

Account and billing

Your Azure subscription, resource, deployment, and service terms determine usage and charges. A separate OpenAI API balance or ChatGPT subscription does not automatically pay for calls to this resource. Review billing and quota at the Azure resource used by the connection.
