Codex CLI
Codex CLI is a coding-agent integration with native session control, streaming, compaction, provider tools, and reasoning effort. It runs the agent that performs work in your selected checkout. It is separate from OpenAI API access.
Connect and authenticate
RepoPrompt includes a managed Codex runtime and maintains its sign-in separately from the ordinary standalone Codex home. In Codex CLI settings, choose Connect, then complete Login with ChatGPT or the device-code flow. Use Test Connection to recheck the integration.
Advanced settings can select a custom executable. Runtime selection takes effect on the next app launch, when model availability is refreshed. A version check does not guarantee a custom runtime's compatibility. The settings guide explains executable selection, restoring the included runtime, and signing out.
Models and capabilities
Select from the models and reasoning levels advertised by the active runtime. Available choices depend on the runtime, account, and feature. Models explains identifiers, aliases, effort, and Fast tiers without assuming a fixed release catalog.
Codex tool controls cover Bash, Search, Goals, Reasoning Summaries, Local Memories, and configured MCP servers. Tools explains the composer controls; Codex settings documents the individual switches. Eligible direct sessions can also use Computer Use when its companion and local permission requirements are met.
Account and usage
The account signed into RepoPrompt's managed runtime determines access and allowance. It need not be the account used by a separate terminal installation. CLI access does not save an OpenAI API key or pay for direct API requests. Check the connected account's plan and usage for the route being used.
