Grok / xAI API

The Grok (xAI) entry connects supported RepoPrompt model features directly to the xAI API. It is separate from Grok Build, which runs a coding-agent CLI. It is also unrelated to the separately configured Groq service.

Connect and choose models

Validate the xAI credential in API Providers → Grok (xAI) and inspect the discovered models. Use the provider's model catalog and release notes for current identifiers and service changes.

Available choices depend on API account access and integration support. Do not assume that a Grok Build runtime model name is interchangeable with a direct API ID. See Models for availability and naming concepts.

Credentials and billing

The configured API key can also be used by integrations that support the Grok API-key route, including Grok Build. The presence of that runtime does not change the billing boundary: requests authenticated with the key are associated with its xAI API account.

Check which route a task is using before comparing allowance or charges with a separate account-login product. The settings reference describes key validation and model controls; the Grok Build guide covers runtime setup.
